Nyani Quarmyne
Freelance photographer

Nyani Quarmyne is a freelance photographer currently based in Ghana. Quarmyne's work centers on human issues, and on social justice themes in particular. Coming from a multi-cultural background spanning Africa and the West, he inhabits the space between these two worlds and frequently finds himself treading the line between the desire to deliver a more honest and nuanced portrayal of Africa, and the constrained expectations of the Western media machine.
Quarmyne's clients include the African Women's Development Fund (AWDF), the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, CHF International, The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation, the Department for International Development (DFID), ONE International, Save the Children and UNICEF. Publications include The Independent and The New York Times, and his work has been exhibited in North America, Australia, Europe and Africa.
