What is News Xchange 2011?

By Amy Selwyn, Managing Director, News Xchange

First, welcome to News Xchange and to our brand new website! If you’re new to News Xchange, I hope you’ll find this a really exciting and inspiring experience and I definitely hope to see you in Cascais, Portugal this November for our annual event, News Xchange 2011.

If you’re not new to News Xchange, welcome back! We’ve got some big surprises in store this year, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary and we take the experience into new and uncharted territory!

We have five key values. These won’t change.  We are Collaborative, Imaginative, Provocative, Bold and About News. That’s who we are. And my guess is that’s who you are, too. And that’s why you’re here. That’s why you’re interested in News Xchange.

So, what is News Xchange?

Underwritten by Eurovision, News Xchange is the news industry’s most provocative and most insightful conversation. It’s where those with a passion for news come to connect, collaborate, challenge and create.

News Xchange is a community. This community comprises delegates from our event in Athens last year and delegates who will attend this year’s event. Our community comes together to re-imagine what news is about in the world today, what news should be about in best practice and what news will be about in the future.

News Xchange is an ongoing conversation. This year, for the first time, we’ll be interacting right here – on our website – talking to each other, posing and answering questions, discussing, debating and – really important – planning the event that will bring us all together on 2 November in Portugal. When the event is over, this site will once again be our destination for the ongoing discussions and actions.
News Xchange is an event. We bring together senior executives from the news industry and from around the world to discuss and debate, to network and to connect, and to share in an incredible experience. Our primary goal is to share our ideas and to go home with new ways of seizing opportunities, new strategies for addressing problems, new contacts for sharing the knowledge. And, a renewed sense of passion and commitment to our industry and to our work.

In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be adding more and more content to this site. It will change on an ongoing basis: everything from thoughts from industry leaders to images from the day’s big news stories. We’ll have forums, webinars, moderated discussions.  And you can find us on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Flickr.

So, once again, Welcome! This year’s News Xchange experience promises to be our most exciting: our most dynamic, our most interactive, our most relevant. Join our community, connect with your peers and with industry leaders, be part of the conversation. Share YOUR ideas. News Xchange.
