Solana Larsen

Managing Editor, Global Voices Online, New York, NY United States and Berlin, Germany

I am a Danish-Puerto Rican journalist and blogger based in New York and Berlin. I am the managing editor of Global Voices Online (globalvoicesonline.org) an award-winning international community of bloggers and translators who cover world events via the internet. Previously, I worked as an editor with the global politics website, openDemocracy.net.

I hold an MA in international journalism from City University in London, and completed my undergraduate degree  in 2001 in Media and Communications at Goldsmiths College, University of London.  I have also worked as a freelance radio reporter for Denmark's Radio, and taught online journalism in New York University's Department of Journalism, New York.

For this year’s News Xchange conversations I am most interested in the intersections of social media, citizen media and professional journalism, and the future of broadcast, Internet, public service and community.

What excites me most this year is being challenged by new ideas and big perspectives for the future. I’m looking forward to seeing how audiences have shifted from last year and, ultimately, I’m excited by feeling inspired and motivated to try new things and collaborate in new ways.

My e-mail address is solana.larsen@gmail.com and I look forward to hearing from you.
