Foreign editor NOS News

I am the foreign editor of NOS News (nos.nl) in Hilversum, the Netherlands, the main news provider on Dutch radio, television and the web. Our cross-media team counts 80 people, including our 35 foreign correspondents spread all over the world.

Before I came to work at the NOS in 1999 I worked as a journalist and produced debates  for current affairs programs on radio and television.  I brought in my experience gathered at newspapers in the Netherlands and Belgium. And I still use my skills and interests to organize a yearly documentary festival for current affairs films, News Input.

I've been a big fan of the NewsXchange formula ever since the early beginning and produced four sessions in the past few years, on climate change, muslims in the Western media, the self-fullfilling prophecy of reports on economic crisis, and the way to handle politics on television. Besides that I gave a helping hand to several other sessions, producing Dutchmen for discussions; they're good at that, you know.
